I have a Masters in Social Work with a concentration in Trauma Counseling and a certification in Violence Against Women & Children from Rutgers University (2011). I currently hold a clinical social worker license in New Jersey, Connecticut, and North Carolina. In addition, I am also a Certified School Social Worker and have worked in the public education setting for 13 years.
During my time working with children and adolescents in the schools, I have served on a child study team evaluating and supporting students in special education. I am currently a crisis counselor for an Essex county high school and have been in this role full-time for 8 years. Working in crisis and supporting students who are most at-risk has become a passion of mine. I have been active in fundraising for suicide prevention and developing innovative programs and services to meet the needs of youth struggling with their mental health.
In addition to my years working in public education, I have also had several years of experience working in non-profit environments serving children and families impacted by child abuse and neglect.
Lastly, I am a certified Holistic Health Coach trained by the Institute for Integrative Nutrition. I truly believe that health is WEALTH and addressing all aspects of well-being (mind, body, and spirit) using a whole person approach leads to the best outcomes in both coaching and therapy.
For some, the decision to go to therapy is not intimidating. It's a welcomed resource in times of need or a safe place to reflect and explore personal growth. However, for others the decision is not an easy one. It can be hard to face what we need to heal as doing so demands vulnerability, personal accountability, and effort which some shy away from for a multitude of reasons. For those who are unsure if therapy is right for them, I understand. However, I believe that once you commit to the process, your growth becomes possible and the changes you hope for become attainable. Nothing changes if nothing changes! Often, the decision to go to therapy is the catalyst to launch you into a new, more self-aware, and often more fulfilling life chapter. You can do this, the question is, "Are you ready?" I'm a firm believer that therapy will only be helpful to the extent that you are ready and willing to help yourself. It's important to assess your motivation for treatment and what you are hoping to get out of your time in session.
On my end, I will guide you, provide helpful tools, support you, empower you, and offer you direct and compassionate feedback. I will believe in you, I won't judge you, and I will be patient and kind as you share your story. I believe in a collaborative, clinically competent, and holistically oriented approach to care delivering the best service I can provide from these foundational beliefs. I look forward to my current client sessions and meeting new clients every day. I consider it a great privilege to walk alongside people on their journey towards greater hope, healing, and optimal wellness.
